Traumatic Injuries

Traumatic injuries to the teeth can occur in many ways, from sports injuries, fights, car accidents, falls etc. The variety of injuries can range from a mere concussion of the tooth, which is a traumatic blow with no physical damage, to crown fractures, root fractures, displacement of one or more teeth, and avulsion, in which the entire tooth comes out of the mouth.  In many cases the ultimate fate of a traumatized tooth may depend on proper management of the situation immediately after the event.   An endodontist has specialized training in dealing with these traumatic injuries, and can help ensure that proper treatment is rendered.
